John Begg (Committee Member)

John began working in finance (advertising and public relations) before moving into Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) as national business and account manager. Working a further 8.5 years as National Sales Manager he currently enjoys the position of National Account Manager for White Magic.

Regular work visits to the USA, UK and France have provided John vast knowledge in display, product and trends within local and international retail sectors.

Since living in Queenscliff for 4.5 years John voluntarily began running Instagram accounts @VisitQueenscliff, @VisitPointLonsdale, @VisitBellarine and @TheRip3225 for the local community.

Sally Denahy

Sally Denahy (President)

Sally Denahy is an Old Geelong College Collegian, she has a Bachelor of Education from The University of Melbourne and has taught in London and Australia.  She worked at The University of Melbourne researching early years literacy, and also at Geelong College (for 15 years) where was an integral part of the curriculum leadership team.

Sally and her husband Chris Dineen have a restaurant and accommodation business, Circa 1902, in Queenscliff and La Monique Perfumery & Candlery in Point Lonsdale.  They are active fundraisers for Sexual Assault and Family Violence Centre (SAVF).

Sally believes a dynamic community evolves from strong collaboration, forward-thinking and taking risks by embracing change.

Bev Friend (Committee Member)

Bev Friend is a business and executive coach, educator as well as a strategic leader with many years helping others achieve their goals in their business and professional careers.  Bev had a successful career in senior management including buying and marketing, general management and CEO. She has an entrepreneurial spirit and has owned several small businesses including – a day spa in the heart of Collins St, fashion boutique and a publishing house.

Bev is passionate about giving back to the business community and a sought after thought leader.  She is the immediate past Chair of the Small Business Mentoring Service and President of Melbourne Business Network and advisor on the Small Business Ministerial Council. She is qualified in business, leadership and management and now helps others achieve their dreams!

Bev moved to Point Lonsdale earlier in 2021.

Warren-Hobbs

Warren Hobbs (Committee Member)

Warren Hobbs Architect is a director of J3DesignPty Ltd, and has been managing architectural and interior design projects for more than 20 years.

He has a Masters degree in architecture, is a registered Passive House designer and has extensive experience with all types of residential and heritage projects as well as tourism, and retail fields. He and his wife are now full-time Queenscliff residents and run their practice from their newly renovated home.

Soula Mantalvanos

Soula Mantalvanos (Vice President)

Soula is the director of ooi creative communication and Queenscliff Gallery. Soula brings over 25 years of design and communication experience to PLonQ and has a great interest in culture and community connection. Soula is an advocate for chronic pain.

Since moving to the Borough of Queenscliffe in 2015 with her partner Theo Mantalvanos, Soula has seen much cause to collaborate with the energised local small business community from which the idea of a cultural organisation presented itself.

Theo Mantalvanos

Theo Mantalvanos (Treasurer)

Theo is the co-director and owner of Queenscliff Gallery and also ooi creative communication, a communications and design company he has owned since 1999 with founder, Soula Mantalvanos.

Marketing, client liaison, business development and aesthetic directing are fundamental attributes that Theo brings to PLonQ to ‘advance the communities of Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff’.

Di Sawyer (Committee Member)

Diana Sawyer began her professional career as an educator and counsellor in History and Languages working in Australia and in London.

Diana travelled through Victoria managing Epilepsy awareness programs and continued in the field writing training programs for teachers, health workers, doctors, emergency service providers, families and carers. Her work saw her collaborate with many Health Institutions, Boards and Universities. In addition, Diana also authored a self-help book and other booklets about Epilepsy, memory training and dental care.

On retirement, Diana moved to the Bellarine Peninsula with her husband establishing a vineyard. She is a recognised life member of the Geelong Botanic Gardens and currently Convenor of Research and Publications at the Queenscliffe Historical Museum. She has written 5 books on Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale.

Zelda Walters

Zelda Walters (Committee Member)

Now retired, Zelda’s working life has been spent in public relations, marketing and communications and public affairs. Zelda’s experience includes – running fundraising and auxiliaries for Prince Henry’s Hospital; working at a large public relations firm; in the insurance industry for both a major company and an insurance body; and as marketing and communications consultant to a number of other businesses.

Working as a volunteer, she has run fundraising events for organisations and at Foodbank Victoria organising food donations.
